I wonder if the next (dystopian) step beyond quantified social bonding is gene editing for social traits. We talk about the potential for future parents to select for physical traits, but would they also eventually look to combine those with “attractive” social traits?

I could see some people wanting that option in the pursuit of perfection and social acceptance. We don't have sufficient genetic literacy to understand how much our DNA truly determines phenotype, disease risk, etc. There would definitely be questions about new rights of children. Much like there are debates over children not being able to consent to social media, we may see advocacy for children do be free from genetic design.
